Well, after a grueling 8 hour drive Wednesday night we are finally here again in Le Mans for the 3rd edition of the Le Mans 24 hour Classic.
As before and always, these classic cars only age on paper, contrary to modern road cars, and similar to wine, they get better with age, truly spectacular.
Phil and Malcolm have finished their practice sessions, hoping to break the 6 minute lap. in brilliant fashion, a stunning 5m55.9 was posted, giving them a provisional 40th place on the grid, out of 70. For some, that may sound comme-ci-comme-ca, mais au contraire mon ami, that lap is the fastest any TVR Grantura has ever done on the Circuit de 24. How 'bout that!
Butch Kemp from Penworth Marine has graciously brought up his Hollister and is using it as a pit bike. Not like the competition's run-of-the-mill 5cc scooters, this 1800cc pit-bike is seriously doing the job.
So, the pilots now get to practice on the track in the dark. The Mulsane Straight is over 7 km long, not completely straight with two chicanes.
The weather is dodgy, but the rain is holding off, lets hope that continues.
More to come....
